Happy New Year 2022
It’s been a choppy year. The covid-19 pandemic has been more prolonged than we all had anticipated. It is like a lingering cold that just don’t seem to go away. In Malaysia we had spent half of 2021 in various modes of lockdown. As if that was not somber enough, we just had unprecedented floods which claimed many lives and billions of Ringgit of property damage. The Chinese proverb 福无双至,祸不单行 blessings never come in pairs, but misfortunes never come singly sums it up well.
The local economy is sluggish amidst political uncertainties and changes. We basically had our third Prime Minister since the last election in May 2018. The local share market is anything but lackluster. Inflation is biting as we can see prices of almost all basic necessities going up. The road ahead clearly does not look favorable viz-a-viz our neighbors like Singapore, Vietnam and even Indonesia who is blessed with a good leader.
Many economies in Europe like France and Italy are contracting. This will affect Chinese exporters as EU is their second largest trading partner. Furthermore China is not without its internal problems. Just look at the Evergrande’s debt crisis. This debt problem is just the tip of the iceberg.
In the US, there are many asset and financial bubbles threatening to pop while its people face high inflation from all the QE by the Fed. Is 2022 a ‘black swan’ for Dow Jones and other global markets? And cryptocurrency is not free from a black swan risk either. Any crash will have its global impact as these days the economies are so interdependent. The wealth inequality in the US is startling as the share of net wealth in the United States held by the top 10 percent is 70 percent in 2Q of 2021. Homelessness abound in the so called richest country in the world and 61% of the people in a survey said they cannot afford a $1,000 emergency expense, and maybe not even $500. Is this the end of the American dream? To make matters worse they had recorded a record high572,029 new covid cases yesterday Dec 30, 2021. Meanwhile, in the guise of democracy and human rights, the US goes around the globe creating trouble for everyone, desperately trying to cling on to its world hegemony while neglecting the urgent needs of its less privileged people.
In all, there is no safe haven on earth be it in the wealthiest or poorest nation! The safest place is to be under the protection and in the will of God because we can trust His plans for us. His will is best, because He is perfect in wisdom, love, faithfulness, goodness, and all-knowing. It doesn’t mean we won’t face sufferings and even calamities, but when we are in the will of God, we can know that we are in the safest place, because we have His blessing and His promises.
"The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my Saviour; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” (Psalm 18:2 NLT)
Happy New Year 2022 and in the coming years may you walk from lack to abundance; from ill-health/sickness to health; from servitude to dominion; and from not enough to more than enough. It going to be your year for those living in His will. SHALOM! SHALOM!

The camels are approaching
"He (Isaac) went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching" (Genesis 24:63).
The best time to meditate for me is in the evening. It's when I get inspiration from God and write down all the ideas He gives me; be it visions for businesses or ideas for books.
In the current context, evening also represents the dawn of the coming year, and all its unknowns. But one thing I do know is that we used to live on higher ground and through Christ we are simply reclaiming it. God may have given you some visions and promises that are yet to come to fruition, but as long you are looking up and saw the camels coming they will surely arrive in His appointed time. It may look impossible in the natural but He is the God of the impossible and we need to see through the lens of faith.
The camels represent destiny helpers, and the "provision for the vision" as the camels can store water for months without drinking.
By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised (Hebrews 11:11).
Sarah was well beyond child-bearing age but yet she believed God will do the impossible for her. She thus was able to conceive "seed'. Seed is the vision and promises God has deposited in your spirit. You may think all is over and too late for you, but when grace is in activation, age is not a limitation to reach an enviable fulfilment and destiny.
Shalom! Be at peace. Next year 2022 will be an even greater year for His remnants.
