Eagle vs Chicken

An eagle and a chicken are both birds, and therefore look more or less the same: they have beaks, they have wings, both have claws, they have feathers and they both come from eggs.

But the difference between them is enormous. First, note that there is a huge amount of chickens. You’ve probably seen a chicken up close, maybe even picked one up.Now, have you ever seen a live eagle? Probably not. Chickens are everywhere, but eagles are rare.

You can cage an eagle but he will still know how to fly. I have not plied my trade in healthcare consulting, book writing and lecturing for over a decade, but when the Lord let me do it again .… I can still fly.  No amount of coaxing can get a chicken to fly  and then soar. Eagles fly high to hunt at the top of the mountains, while chickens eat scraps of food in the yard.  I certainly do not want to eat scraps from the ground but to hunt for good opportunities from the top by being on top of my game. I don’t want to be scratching for a living, but to live in the fullness of Christ and excel in my industry.

There is a canny resemblance to people and even Christians into two (2) types of people- an eagle or a chicken. Being able to fly and soar like an eagle comes from “within”.  It’s in the mindset. You are what you think you are.  There are those that are born as eagles but do not believe they can soar, overcome their current challenges, discouraged and weighed down by the burdens of life and hence living like chickens for their entire life.  And please don’t let your relatives and friends tell you that you cannot soar up there like the eagles we see high in the sky. You are a product of what you think, not what others think. Don’t let your past failures discourage you. I was so fixated with the path that didn’t work for years. But eventually God opened up different paths that are even better. So reposition yourself in the midst of failures so you don’t miss a better route in front of you.

1.Visionary

An eagle has eyesight that can spot a rabbit at over three kilometres and has excellent depth perception as well as 270 degrees peripheral vision. It can see its target from very far!

Job 39:27-29 (ESV)
Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up and makes his nest on high?
On the rock he dwells and makes his home, on the rocky crag and stronghold.
From there he spies out the prey; his eyes behold it from far away.

Eagles have strong vision which comes from taking the time to reflect and listen. So take time to pray and inquire and listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that you can see and carve out business opportunities that others can’t. Through my darkest days I kept believing God has a glorious destiny for me (and you). He is already preparing works for us, and our job is to see them and focus on being obedient. Like the eagle, those who know God will have superior vision and see more in the spirit.

2. Innovation

An eagle only eats live prey. They do not eat dead meats like the vultures and other scavengers. Don’t waste your precious time and energy doing the same old things and keep habits that are not productive. Many spend too much time on Facebook, social media and their hobbies instead of learning new skillsets. We must make a conscious effort to feed our minds on live, wholesome knowledge, godly food, not the left-over junk they serve on the news, social media and chatgroups.

Colossians 3:2 (ESV)
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

We have to be continually learning new things to innovate. Many people are limited and frustrated in their business and career because they lack new ideas that will break personal boundaries. It takes information with innovation and “inspired revelation” for an impartation for transformation that can lead to enviable manifestation in any enterprise. Even if you are an employee, think like an entrepreneur.

The advancement of any career needs new ideas and innovation, which without you cannot break limitations.

3. Fearless

Watch an eagle when a storm comes. When other birds fly away from the storm with fear, an eagle spreads its mighty wings and uses the current to soar to greater heights. The eagle takes advantage of the very storms that lesser birds fear and head for cover. Challenges in life are many. These are the storm we must face to rise to greater heights. Like an eagle, we can only rise to greater heights if he takes up the challenges head on without running away from them. In my earlier years I ran away from challenges, but I never grew up till I face my challenges head on then only God lifted me. The storm of life has made me  better in my trade and taught me many invaluable lesson about my flaws and shortcomings.

Success needs perseverance so when life get tough simply spread your wings and allow His Spirit to empower you. Soar even higher than an eagle as Bette Midler sings in her famous hit “Wind Beneath My Wings”.

“I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings

…..Thank you, thank you
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings”.

4. Renewal and re-innovate

When an Eagle grows old, its feathers become weak and cannot take it as fast as they should. When it feels weak and about to die, it retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, it plucks out every feather on its body until it is completely bare. It stays in this hiding place until it has grown new feathers, a process which takes about 150 days. After this, the eagle can take its famous flight of rebirth and live for 30 more years.

Proverbs 24:3-4 (TLB) says, “Any enterprise (life, family, business, etc.) is built by wise planning, becomes strong through common sense, and profits wonderfully by keeping abreast of the facts.

Old companies become too rigid. I hate dealing with bureaucracy in large companies. Decisions are made too slowly. Chinaman family companies are worse as all decision are made by one person. Example of companies being slow to innovate are aplenty. Sony in their heydays made waves with their Walkman, Kodak with their cameras; and Blackberry who failed to realised there is a serious competitor in i-Phone and android now has zero% market share.

Hence not only an enterprise must keep abreast of the facts but situationally aware of the latest technologies in their field and market trends.

In these last days

With the Hamas-Israel war erupting, the timeline is near. The soaring eagle is a symbol of the resurrected Christ whose return is near. There are many non-believers who do not know Christ even as end-time bible prophecies is being fulfilled right before our very eyes.

End time prophecy cannot be fulfilled without restoration of Jews to their homeland. The Roman empire decimated Israel in 70 A.D. For almost 2,000 years there was no Jewish nation in the Middle East. The restoration of the Jewish state in 1948 showed God will fulfil what He promised.

The seven seals in Revelation 6 is God’s judgment on earth. The first seal a white horse could possibly be the covid-19 pandemic that made me realised on my misplaced hope on material things. The second seal a fiery red horse and its certainly related to the escalations of war we see in Ukraine, Hamas-Israel war which threatens to expand to the entire Middle -East (as red is the colour of blood and killing).  Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword. Basically there will be no peace for a few more years but only wars.  I don’t think the time for the brokered peace is here yet. The brokered peace that the Anti-Christ will break with Israel when he sits in the rebuilt temple. The temple has not been rebuilt yet.

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!” Rev 6: 6.  Many are already struggling, living from paycheque-to-paycheque amidst rising inflation. The fourth seal warns of an ensuing famine…

These are interesting and critical times. So stay close to God. We are living in an increasingly lawless and dangerous society.
