Reaching Out
Praise God that "Refresh - Psalms for 21st century living" is well received at EcoFirst, even non-believers are reading it. The Wednesday fellowship at EcoFirst is also swelling only after 1 month. Even staff members who were not Christians have accepted Christ or have enquired. The board room may not be big enough soon and we may have to move to a lecture hall.
After many years, I am finally finding the balance between being equipped (learning the word, seminars etc) and reaching out in a practical way. 7-8 years back I went to every bible seminar there was, tried to attain all the gifts of the Spirit and read the bible 3 hours a day. Without reaching people in a practical way, I found that many students got a hyper-inflated view of their service to God. There is a risk that we may treasure the gifts of the Holy Spirit, more than treasuring God himself. Some of them didn't even realize themselves (myself was one of them).
When I thought I was equipped, then an inflated mind came and say that I can do this and that for God. But God in all His wisdom, lets you fall flat, so that you serve Him in the Spirit and not the flesh.
We can love God both in the flesh and in the spirit. We can serve God both in the flesh and the spirit. It is when we serve God in the spirit that His power manifests.
