God's Hand on Malaysia

As I read the Star yesterday and the IGP Musa's vision for the Police Force, I could not but see God's hand there. Clearly the IGP is trying to make changes for the better. Evidently, he has been eradicating a lot of illegal businesses etc over the past months. The appointment of Christopher Wan as Commissioner has seen unprecendented arrests and clearing out many illegal activities.

I believe all these are a result of prayer. God puts god-fearing people in these positions, people who may not be Christians, but who fear a Higher Being, and whose hearts yearn for righteousness.

Likewise with the Iskandar Development Region, I believe its God's Hand. No PM, be it Dr.M, Anwar or the currrent PM can change policies overnight. The affirmative policies that favors Bumiputeras cannot be rid of overnight. Hence, when Tan Sri Musa Hitam said that this new economic region should do away with Bumi affirmative policies (30% Bumi equity etc), it was a step in the right direction that God is driving.

In communist China, decades back it was hard to drive the economy given that communist party officials had vested interest in the local areas they headed. The premier, Deng Xiaopeng initiated the Shenzen Economic Zone without restrictive policies. Its success and policies then spread across to the rest of China as people saw that the cake grew bigger for all without such restrictive policies.

I believe the Iskandar Development Region will set a drive to change the whole country for the better. It will show the Bumi's that without the 30% Bumi equity participation and other affirmative policies favoring them, the cake is bigger and all of us, and all of us will win.

Let us continue to pray for Malaysia and its leaders in government to lead the nation with wisdom and that Malaysia be an economic powerhouse in the region.
