An Olympic tinge

Grace Is More Beautiful Than Judgment

Andy Sanders

The man fell deep asleep in his comfortable dark green recliner. The TV still showed clips of recent Olympic game highlights. All the others in the house had already gone down to sleep a few hours ago. Not much was going on outside weather-wise that night, everything. In the natural, it was a normal night’s rest. Little did he know all was going to change.

The white clouds flowed freely across the skies. A new dimension of life had been crossed over. The man stood there in the presence of the Holy God. A book was opened and the stories were read aloud for the entire world to hear.

One sin after the next was announced to the galaxies. In utter shame and disgrace, the young man silently stood “naked” in front of all. “If only this would stop. Please somebody stop this now!” He thought. The whole world saw who and what he really was. Nothing was hidden in the presence of a Most Holy God. The fires of hell burned right under his feet. His burdens of wickedness were beyond perceptive. The young man’s shoulders quickly bent as the weight of his own hidden sins came more and more apparent. A few more moments of this torment and the guy would be as good as dead. Fire shot up from below the crystal floor and into the air.

All of his sins were read allowed. Nothing hidden. The entire legion of angels and all the glorified saints stood in silence as this powerful flowing voice declared this man’s sins. Naked he stood there with his head down, shoulders crouched, and stomach in knots.

The glorious mist that rested at the young man’s feet began to rise, drenching all the flames. The clouds filled the entire meeting room. A different feeling began to take over the atmosphere; one of both gentle peace and divine love. It was a sovereign and holy moment.

Then a voice behind the young man said, “Your sins are many, too many to count. It is not the ones that took place before you accepted me that stirs my anger. It is all those that have taken place after you chose to walk with me. You must purify your heart just as a bride cleanses and prepares herself whole-heartedly for her long-awaited wedding day. You must turn solely after me. I am the God of both judgment and mercy.” The Lord stood there with a straight face.

At that time all of the mans sins that ever were committed in his life up to that moment were written on a white table, again, in front of creature. The elders covered their faces. The living creatures bowed to the floor. The sight ripped the heart of the young boy. Tears of shame and remorse flooded the front of his face, flowing down and soaking the entire front of his chest.

Then the Lord lay down across the white table covered by all the written sins. He too started to weep for the sake of the young boy. The elders and living creatures stood to their feet. The angels flew up into the skies. The Lord laid there and interceded for a time that could have felt like hours or if not days. The angels bowed crying out “Mercy sits at His seat. His blood has covered all.” The angels said this over and over again.

Then total silence. The Lord got up off the table and all of the sins that were once grafted into that white table were now grafted into the Lord’s robe. One by one, the sins of the young man began to fall off the Lord’s robe, lost right into the beautiful flowing clouds that danced along the floor. All the transgressions gone! His sins were as white as snow. Forgiven! Never found again!

The burdens lifted. Tears of sorrow burst into joyous songs and dancing. The angels cried out from above, ”Holy is the Most High. His ways are perfect. His thoughts are pleasant.” Bam! “And now, new updates on recent Olympic track and field failures with the USA men and women teams…” The TV blared loudly. The young boy startled in his sleep reached over, turning off the flat screen and sipping some water from his glass. His body was covered in sweat. The reality set in deep that night. Christ truly covers all sins!

Psalm 85: 11,” For the Lord God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will the Lord withhold for those who do what is right.”

Grace is more beautiful than judgment.

God Bless, Andy
