Copy Jews and Chinese, Malays told (Sunday Star page N6; 27 April 2008
The Second Finance Minisiter Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said Malays should emulate the Jews and the Chinese who are far-sighted in developing a progressive society.
He is right! Absolutely correct. But when you are having crutches in the form of NEP how far-sighted can that be? You can only see as far as 2011 when Malaysia becomes a net importer of oil.
Firstly they hate the Jews, so why emulate them? When we Chinese meet each other we always ask in Chinese "have you eaten?". This is because in the past, if you had eaten then you are blessed as China was so poor only a century ago. The Jews on the other hand greet each other by asking "have you read the book?". The book is the Torah and that is why Jews are so successful till this day. They recite and practice God's word. What progress has there been in countries that follow the Koran? I respect all religions but I am asking and questioning objectively and factually, not emotionally.
When western Europe was still uncivilized, China and India were much more advanced societies with trading, arts, silk and gunpowder. The Nordic nations were still vikings and pirates. But they got hold of the Bible from the Middle-East and today you see western Europe as it is today.
Nor Mohamed Yackop also said that the Chinese in China also took measures to ensure collective success of their race. This is the legacy left by Deng Xiapeng, who set up the correct system that has beneiftted China till this day. But when Mahathir was in power and powerful, what did he do? Did Mahathir strengthen the judiciary and the ACA?
Macau, Singapore and Hong Kong are so loaded with cash that they gave $$$ back to its citizens in term of tax refund and rebates. In Malaysia, they keep taking from the citizens and increase toll rates etc.

Promotion Comes From God, not Man
Psalms 75:6 reads, "Exaltation comes not from the east or west or south, but from the north".
In business, there will people who tell you it is them whom will exalt you, bless you and give you business. They may even try to control what you do.
But you know, men's heart can change. God's heart never change as He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Our focus is on Him and not our clients, or business or friends. It is God whom I will trust, not men. When one door closes, God can open another if you trust Him. How many doors can a man open for you? God is not limited, but man is!
It is God who blesses us without adding any sorrow as the Bible says. God wants us to have good success, and not ending up with 3 mistresses when we get rich. When the devil bless you he always add sorrow. Just look at broken families and suicide cases related to money. God moulds our skills and then our character before he entrust us with riches, for without character, the money will destroy you.

If you see the show Braveheart, at the end William went to face death with this now famous quote.
Every man dies. Death is a certainty. Yes it true, that because of the cross, death has lost its sting (1 Corinthians 15:55). In Him we have eternal life.
In truth we are a spiritual being having a temporal earthly existence. Our spirit don't die. If we are in Christ we go back to God. If not we will not be with Him in heaven. Of course there are those who believe their spirit will be reincarnated to a dog or a rat depending on one's conduct while on this earth. They will cease to exist (Nirvana) if they are not found wanting. When you stop believing in the Truth, the danger is not that you will believe in nothing, but any ridiculous thing. For instance, an orphan will keep acknowledging anyone as his/her parents, until he/she finds the true father and mother.
We are here for a purpose. Many are yet to find the very reason for their voyage on this earth. A friend said he wants to do charity and another said she wanted to break into the show business within 5 years. They can do all these but unless they know their Creator and fulfill His purposes for him/her, there will always be eventual emptiness in the heart.
Some live for their kids. Some live for their business. These things are not with you forever, even your loved ones. When the curtains are drawn back eventually on your life, have you truly lived? You can only truly begin to answer this if you know why you were created in the first place. It is that simple!

Chelsea
Today the newspaper reported they will allow the 2 Israelis in the Chelsea football team to travel into Malaysia.
Malaysia does not recognize Israel as a sovereign state just like over 30 Muslim majority countries. Why? have you ever asked why?
If you don't recognize a country it means it does not exist, or denying it exist, but it is there. You tune into CNN and you see Israel on TV everyday though in continual conflict. But it exists!
Historically Jerusalem has never been the capital of any nation besides Israel and the Jebusites. There was never a country called Palestine and Jerusalem was never the capital of a state called Palestine. The Palestinians were living there and the land was called Palestine but there was never a country called Palestine. When the Romans captured Israel they punished the Jews for the rebellion and named the land after their traditional enemies the "Philistines" and hence Palestine. After Israel occupied the land in 1948, the Palestinians fled to Arab countries but they were "rejected" by their Muslim brothers. Lebanon then a prosperous Christian country accepted the refugees and hence evolving into today's mess.
There are some things in history you cannot change. These are all facts!.

Education
I have met a lot of Sabahans and Sarawakians recently. These 2 east Malaysian states have many indigenous people who are Christians.
But they are poorly educated and making a paltry existence in west Malaysia. One ask what have the government done for them? Very little!
Look at Sarawak for example. The family of the Menteri Besar can own a bank while the infrastructure in the state is poor and welfare of the people are really in a shambles.
I pray for changes for these people. I pray that God will give them a government that will bring positive changes to them and not just hand out RM50,000 per village come election time.

Building Fund
As I went to church today, Senior Pastor shared the vision for the new building Plaza Mayang. I feel excited that God will entrust us with the money and we will play a part in the greatest end-time work and harvest.
A building isn't just about bricks and mortar. It is about souls and a place where people are discipled to make an impact to the society at large. It is also where the hurt are healed and the depressed are restored. It is about touching peoples lives.
Many have always asked me why I chose to settle at Grace Assembly. The answer is simple. It is the most outward looking church I have seen, and certainly the biggest social work group in the country. We need to help the helpless, clothe the naked and feed the hungry. We are the light of the world and we need to bring this light into the darkness, not where there is already light.

Spiritual
I had a few drink with my ex-immediate boss.
He is now doing his own business and doing well. One thing he kept highlighting was that he has become very spiritual. He claims that he hardly eats meat and having more compassion.
Man was created with a need to fill his spiritual vacuum. Only God can truly fill this. But when you do not have God, men look for all sort of things to fill this void. The danger when mankind stop believing in his Creator, is not that he will believe in nothing; but the danger is that he will believe absolutely anything, even ridiculous things!
Yes, there are various types of denomination with Christianity and each with slightly different emphasis. It is true that the Word of God at man's hand has always suffered loss, but at least their philosophies are based on the word of God. Their interpretation is based on something divine, and surely when men interprets the Word of God it may be different and hence the different emphasis. But at least their philosophies are based on the word of God.
But with eastern religions, the philosophies of men have become deified and become a religion. That is the difference.

Indonesia
Last week I flew into Jakarta using AirAsia. I had brought along my printed ticket from the computer to check-in at LCCT but forgot to ask for it back.
On arrival, the immigration officer wanted to look at my itinerary. He said I can only be allowed in if I had an itinerary. I was just in Hong Kong flying in with Cathay Pacific and all I needed was my passport to check-in at the e-ticket counter and on arrival the immigration officer didn't ask for my itinerary. Anyhow, the Indonesian immigration officer wanted money. I offered RM10 .00 but he wanted RM50.00 which I refused. It really makes you sick to enter this country. Last year when I went to Jarkarta, the officer also gave me such a hard time and I had to pay RM10.00.
In Jakarta, we went for drinks and on the way back we took a taxi back to the hotel and met a police roadblock. We gave them our passports and he told us it was law for foreigners to go back to the police station for questioning. This is even worse than the communist! Anyhow we didn't want any trouble and gave the police Rupiah50,000. The police officer gave Rupiah5,000 to the taxi driver so that the driver will not make a report.
I wanted to start a trading company to register my health products. The requirement was US$100,000 paid up capital, 51% local equity and we can only have 49%. The system really doesn't attract FDIs and create jobs for their people. It just protects the already rich as we have to partner them. Passing the immigration already makes me feel unwanted, let alone doing business there.
The system of corruption, unemployment and mismanagement is really unbelievable. I ask God what about the poor, helpless and forsaken there.

Children Christian Books
Last year certain religious authorities confiscated kid's Christians books with pictures of Moses and Elijah etc from local book shops.
They cite that these prophets belong to them.
But Moses was a Jew, so how can Moses be exclusive to their religion?
The authorities also wanted to ban certain use of words like Allah by non-muslims. With respect the word Allah has been used before Islam was founded with reverence to God. Thus, how can the word Allah be monopolized?
